Fertile Crescent

A crescent-shaped region in the Middle East, spanning modern-day Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. It is considered the "cradle of civilization" as the birthplace of agriculture, writing, and early cities. 

Double Coincidence of Wants

The requirement in a barter system that for a trade to occur, two parties must each have something the other desires at the exact same time. 

Barter System

A system of exchange where goods or services are traded directly for other goods or services without the use of a medium of exchange, such as money.
